The US great directors Polansky´s "Rosemary´s Baby" & William Friedkin´s - The Exorcist part 1 1973?

did the american young brilliant horror directors like Roman Polansky, Tobe hopper, William Friedkin, George A. Romero inspire the early era of the modern horrorgenres during the 1970′s ???

Some italian horror maestros such as Fulci, Argento, Mario Bava and the other Hammer british directors have been overwhelmed by the new US horror masters in the 70′s.

In fact Roman Polansky got a massive huge success in his low budget horror movie "Rosemary′s Baby 1968" as well as Friedkin in his The Exorcist 1973. George A.Romero also did very well in the night of the living dead 1968.

I think that all these geniuses inspired the early era of modern horrorgenres, as you put it. The directors you mention are all highly influential, and most of them are still making movies. As we all know, Romero singlehandedly started the zombie genre, and Friendkins Exorcist made new standards for what one was allowed to show in a movie, and alongside Rosemary's Baby the exorcists made grounds for new and better psychological horror than we had ever seen before =)

Fulci, Argento, Bava and the hammer directors might not have been as influential, but their works still stand as great masterpieces today (especially the Italian ones), and they made room for new effects, gore and general feeling in movies, for instance with the superb artistic way Argentos movies were shot, and how well they all handled gore effects.

So, well, not too sure where I'm going with this... But I think I'm just trying to say that these are all great and influential directors, that we horror fans of today cannot thank enough for their work in th 60-70's =D
Reply:the movies you talk of are good but when you talk of horror it is hammer horror that takes it
