Can I use garlic powder as garlic salt in my red potatoes?

I'm not a very experienced cook, and I'm making Rosemary Red Potatoes. I accidentally got garlic powder instead of garlic salt, which the recipe calls for. What should/could I do?

Put in the powder and if your recipe doesn't call for table salt, put a bit in.

The important thing is if your recipe already calls for regular salt, don't add more than it calls for, just add the powder and you'll be fine.

Good Luck!
Reply:Garlic salt is granulated garlic and salt, so you can use the garlic powder, you'll probably just have to add the salt separately.
Reply:I concur with the first two answers.
Reply:Use it, no problem. Just remember to add a little bit more salt (if needed) since Garlic Powder contains no salt by itself (and I prefer it for that same reason).
Reply:just mix it w/ salt its pretty much the same.

my garlic salt reads- garlic, parsley and salt

and some no clumping agent.
Reply:Yes you can but be careful, garlic powder is five times stronger than garlic salt.

I would just use minced garlic myself.
Reply:Never mind the recipe through the garlic salt away and use the garlic. Professional cook for over 20 years. Just be careful, garlic powder should be used to enhance flavor, not overpower it. If you choose to use garlic salt instead use less salt than the recipe calls for or don't use any other salt. A lot of salt is not healthy. If you must put a salt shaker on the table and let people salt their own food. Hope this helps.
